Frequently Asked Questions
Westwood IV Therapy
How do I prepare for mobile IV therapy?
All you need to do is open your front door and relax in your comfiest chair! Many people find it easier to wear a short sleeved shirt as well. A member of our team (all registered and experienced RNs) will bring all of the necessary equipment right to your home. The nurse will carefully place the IV therapy you selected, supervise the infusion, then remove the IV and dispose of any trash.
Do I need to get a prescription for hydration therapy?
No! Our treatments are safe and effective for everyday use. Browse through our menu and select a hydration therapy, or give us a call and talk to us! We are happy to suggest or customize a hydration therapy that suits your needs. We can help you look and feel your best for a big event, boost your energy and metabolism, ease your hangover, or improve your memory before an important meeting. Our staff includes a full time doctor who oversees every order and who is available should questions arise.
How does IV hydration work? Is it better than a shot or pill?
IV hydration works differently from traditional injections or swallowing pills. Because fluids reach the bloodstream directly, vitamins/nutrients can be absorbed more quickly and in higher concentrations. Unlike with pills or injections, most people feel the positive results of hydration within one hour.
What's the duration of an IV Therapy appointment?
Appointments usually last under an hour.
Does it hurt? Are there side effects?
There might be a brief initial "pinch" of discomfort with IV placement, but no more pain after that. Some people report feeling a bit cool during infusion. Others report a temporary metallic taste in the mouth afterward, or a "vitamin" smell when urine is passed. That's all normal and means that the vitamins/nutrients are being metabolized.
Is it clean and sanitary to have a treatment in my house?
Yes! Your provider will set up a sanitary station in your home to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and safety. All of our IV equipment is individually sealed. And of course, your provider will have all of the necessary PPE, including gloves and masks, to keep both of you Covid safe during your hydration session.
How can I be sure of the quality of the products you use?
Westwood IV Therapy uses medical supplies from Henry Schein Medical, the largest global healthcare distributor of medical supplies, services, point-of-care diagnostics, and equipment to physicians' offices. Our IV nutritional therapy comes from Olympia pharmaceuticals, an FDA-approved 503B pharmacy.
What benefits can I expect after my treatment?
Depending on the treatment selected, most people report increased energy, improved memory, or overall just "feeling better" as soon as one hour after hydration!
How long do the benefits last?
This varies from treatment to treatment, but the positive effects of vitamins usually last 1-3 weeks.
How frequently can I receive hydration?
This is a personal decision. Some of our clients receive hydration once a week or once a month. If you want to receive hydration more than once a week, please contact us. We will need to consult with our medical director before we can infuse more than once a week.
How can I book two people at the same time or multiple treatments?
Book the next hour available if you want to book with another person or have multiple treatments. We will be there for the first time slot reserved. If there aren't time slots available after, please email us to check availability.
Can you accommodate a group?
Absolutely! And we offer group rates as well.
